Birthday love

Written on July 16, 2011 by in Artistry & inspiration

Yep, I skipped Friday’s post. It is too colorful to launch on my old black & white website layout, so I’m holding it for Monday. My new website is coming very, very soon—hopefully by tomorrow—and my colorful Friday interviewee deserves appropriate accoutrements.

Instead, I’m going to share a super-sweet note I just received from one of my clients:

“Happy birthday Kate!

I’d like to tell you that, thanks to you, I’ve finally started to believe in my work, vision and abilities. I took a step back and had a long hard look at everything I do and how I think of myself.

I only found out what it is that I want to — and can do — a couple of years ago. Never been one of those ambitious types…so all of a sudden I’ve been dealing with massive perfectionism, information overload, self-deprecation, obsessive competition checking and comparison.

Now, for the first time, I know where I’m going and it all feels like I’ve cleaned my windows and opened them to let the fresh breeze in, after 3 years. I suddenly feel confident, good enough, and willing to work harder than ever.

It’s not just because of your kind words and encouragement. You really know what you’re doing and you do it damn well, and that’s so inspiring. Thank you so much.

I know I’ll be booking your 1:1s regularly in the future.

Isn’t she a sweetie? Such a wonderful birthday gift in my inbox!

In other fun news:

  • Kevin Cullis of MacStartup posted an interview with me about using Macs to run my business, and
  • Corwin Hiebert offered me a guest post slot at Clamorate, a new community for creative entrepreneurs. You can see my post on standing out from the crowd here.

So many amazing things are happening, and I feel so blessed and grateful that I want to spread the love by sharing some art and artists I’m loving right now:
